WHAT IS PRIDE?

Aims & Objectives
  • To relieve elderly and infirm persons in Leicestershire & Rutland and in particular by providing such persons with the means of calling for help when alone and in need of assistance.
  • To promote the efficiency of the Police in the Leicestershire & Rutland and to promote good citizenship and greater crime prevention and solution to crime in the area.
The project is unique throughout the country because :-
  • It attempts to provide reassurance for the user anywhere within the home.
  • It attempts to provide a deterrent against criminals by its own presence.
  • In the case of an activation, it attempts to achieve a rapid response from local residents.
  • It attempts to create a greater bonding between residents whether of the same age group or not.

Take PRIDE in your safety!

Older people often feel vulnerable in their own homes. Fear of an intruder or how to deal with an unwanted caller at the door can lead to anxiety and distress.

PRIDE evolved as a result of older people contacting the Police and other agencies to express their concern for their personal safety and at having their homes broken into and valued possessions stolen.

Historically, people have been amply supplied with advice and leaflets addressing all aspects of crime prevention. But PRIDE is unique as it is the only project of it's kind which attempts to allay the fears of the elderly by installing a low cost, custom designed, crime prevention help call unit with which assistance can easily be summoned.
